The Chicago Bears ended the 2022 NFL season with the worst record in the league. As such, they earned the first overall pick in the 2023 National Football League draft. Of course, the first overall pick of the draft is a big deal in the NFL, as the franchise that has it has the chance to select a generational prospect. Typically, teams use this pick to select a franchise-altering QB, but there lies the problem. The Chicago Bears already have their young franchise QB in Justin Fields. Hence, the Bears were expected to trade down in the draft to stockpile some picks and useful role players.
